Common Questions

Find answers to frequently asked questions about our services and what to expect.

What to Expect

Your first appointment is a 60-minute initial psychiatric evaluation. We will talk about your history — mental health, medical, family, and life context — your current symptoms, and what you hope to get out of care. There is no pressure to share everything at once. By the end, we will outline a personalized treatment plan together. Most people leave feeling heard for the first time in a long time.

After booking, you will receive a secure link to complete intake forms at your convenience. These cover your medical history, current concerns, and consent to care. Please complete them before your appointment so we can spend our time together actually talking — not filling out paperwork. You will also receive a telehealth link to join the session from any device.

Sometimes, yes — but not always. The first session is primarily about gathering a thorough picture of your situation. A diagnosis may be clear right away, or it may take a session or two. Medication is never prescribed without a full understanding of your history. If medication is appropriate, we will discuss options together before anything is prescribed.

No referral is needed. You can schedule directly with us. With your permission, we can coordinate care with your primary care physician and other providers to ensure your care is comprehensive and consistent.

Telehealth & Technology

All appointments are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing. Before your appointment, you'll receive a link to join the session. All you need is a device with a camera and microphone, and a private, quiet space.

Yes! Research consistently shows that telehealth psychiatric care is just as effective as in-person treatment for most conditions. Many patients actually prefer the convenience and comfort of meeting from home.

Don't worry — technology hiccups happen! If you experience issues connecting, call our office and we'll help troubleshoot. We can also conduct sessions via phone if video isn't working.

Insurance & Payment

We are currently self-pay only. Insurance credentialing is in process, and we will update our profile to accept insurance once that is completed. We appreciate your patience and are committed to making care as accessible as possible.

We believe in transparent pricing. New patient visits are $200 for a 60-minute session. Follow-up visits are $100 for 30 minutes. Psychotherapy sessions are $85 for 50 minutes. All fees are due at the time of service.

We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards. Payment is collected at the time of service through our secure patient portal.

Treatment & Medication

Not necessarily. Medication is one tool among many, and we take a collaborative approach to treatment decisions. We'll discuss all options and make recommendations based on your specific situation, preferences, and goals.

We can prescribe most psychiatric medications via telehealth and send them electronically to your preferred pharmacy. There are some limitations on controlled substances depending on state regulations, which we'll discuss during your consultation.

Appointment frequency varies based on your needs and treatment plan. Initially, we may meet more frequently (every 2-4 weeks), then transition to monthly or quarterly appointments as you stabilize.

Healthcare Workers & Burnout

Yes. As a former RN, I have a deep personal understanding of the stressors healthcare professionals face — shift work, moral injury, compassion fatigue, the culture of "push through it," and the stigma around seeking mental health care in medical settings. You will never have to explain the healthcare environment to me. I already know it.

Completely. Your information is protected by HIPAA and will never be shared with your employer, your hospital, your licensing board, or anyone else without your explicit written consent. The only legal exceptions are situations involving imminent safety — which we will always discuss openly with you. Your career is safe. Your mental health comes first.

Privacy & Confidentiality

Absolutely. Your privacy is paramount. All information shared in sessions is confidential and protected by HIPAA regulations. We use secure, encrypted systems for all communications and record-keeping.

No. We never share your information with employers, family members, or anyone else without your explicit written consent. The only exceptions are legally mandated situations involving safety concerns.
